SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — There is no kratom ban in Scranton, at least not yet. The city council voted unanimously on Tuesday to put the proposed ordinance on hold.
Kratom is an herbal supplement you can buy at gas stations and smoke shops. It’s unregulated in Pennsylvania, and the US Food and Drug Administration has never approved it.

Supporters say it’s helped them, while critics say it acts like an opioid.

The council says it needs more time to get this right before any ban becomes law.
No vote is expected anytime soon.
