LOWER MERION — A 73-year-old bicyclist was injured after being struck by a car on School Lane in Ardmore on April 19.
According to police, the 18-year-old driver of a 2018 Buick Enclave was traveling south on the unit block of School Lane shortly before 4 p.m. when he lost control. The vehicle veered to the left and struck the bicyclist, who was traveling north on School Lane.
The bicyclist suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported by Narberth Ambulance to Lankenau Medical Center in critical condition, police say.
The driver of the Buick was transported to Bryn Mawr Hospital with minor injuries, where he was treated and released.
School Lane was closed between Ardmore Avenue and Cricket Avenue. Ardmore Avenue was closed between West Athens Avenue and Spring Avenue. The closures lasted approximately three-and-a-half hours, with all roads reopening at 7:20 p.m. while police investigated.
The crash remains under investigation by the Lower Merion Police Traffic Safety Unit.
