OBITUARY

Daniel Zikoski, 88, of Scranton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday at Hospice of the Sacred Heart. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Mary Ann Schmidt Zikoski. Daniel, also known as “Danny Zike” was born in Scranton and he was the eldest son of the late Stanley and Anna Gowden Zikoski.

Daniel was a graduate of Moosic High School. After serving in the United States Army as an MP, he worked as a union tile setter. Following his first career, Daniel started a business with brother restoring classic cars, including a multiple award winning 1955 black Pontiac Chieftain, which he enjoyed taking to car shows. Daniel was a member of the Greenwood Sportsman’s Club and the American Legion Post in Minooka. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being in the outdoors.

Also surviving are three adult children, Jon, David, and Lynn; brother Jack Zikoski and his wife Ruth, sisters, Grace Grambo and her husband Eddie, Elizabeth Zikoski, and Barbara Sincavage, along with several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give special thanks to Diane Baldi, Jessie and the caretakers and staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their kindness and support.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at Saint Clare’s Church, 2301 North Washington Avenue, Scranton. Friends may call at the church from 10:00 A.M. until Mass time. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore or a charity of your choice.
