Bloom Room owner Wendy Straker has done floral arrangements for Netflix.
Bloom Room Easton is providing a modern New York floral event-planning service minus the New York prices.
“Come in, rent the event space, have your event,” owner Wendy Straker said. “You tell me what sort of decor you want, I will facilitate that.”
Originally operating a New York City-based floral event-planning business — while commuting from Easton — Straker said she grew tired. Rather than wilting and wasting away, she looked for a place closer to her neck of the woods to root her floral expertise. Eventually, the Bloom Room took hold, and with a little bit more water and love, it will be ready to let the light in. The grand opening is on April 30.
“It’s a beautiful space,” said Easton City Council member Crystal Rose, who was present at an event for Easton businesses hosted Tuesday at Bloom Room. “I’m really excited for what they’re planning to do here.”

The space is gearing up to host all types of events: baby showers, birthday parties, book clubs or any impromptu social. Straker highlighted her goal of establishing a community space to hang out in between events, with an open-door policy of sorts.
With contracts still active from her past venture, Bloom Room’s selection of flowers is harvested from faraway gardens in Costa Rica, Ecuador and Colombia.
“In addition to that, we have really cool gadgets,” she said, referencing their 360-degree photobooths, large mirror cameras and big, blue mechanical flowers that whir open and close.
While Bloom Room is still finalizing, there is no shortage of support from its fellow local businesses.
“It’s almost like a new student at school, and all the businesses are very welcome,” said Julie VanOsdol, the manager of Easton Main Street Initiative. “I told Wendy, ‘You will be immediately welcomed into the whole downtown vibe.’ We have a really tight-knit family.”
“It looks really welcoming and inviting,” said owner of Launch Pad Bikes Jimmy Madden, after a preview of the budding interior. “It’s bright, you wanna come in, have a party.”
