PNK Group, a New York-based full-cycle engineering, manufacturing, and development company, recently purchased a 24-acre site in Reading that will be developed into an approximately 220,000-square-foot industrial facility.
Construction on the facility, PNK Reading at Route 222, will begin this quarter.
The purchase opens a new submarket for the company and is part of a plan to expand in key Pennsylvania logistics regions. The location was selected because it is located along Route 222 with direct access to Interstate 76 and Interstate 78 and within proximity of Norfolk Southern and CSX intermodal terminals. In addition, a FedEx logistics hub is nearby and a UPS facility is approximately an hour away.
PNK Group’s proprietary Building Assembly Set construction method uses high-precision, large-format prefabricated components. The method simplifies building assembly by enabling accurate and efficient construction and by minimizing the need for a large work force and heavy machinery. In addition, the method can be converted between warehousing and manufacturing uses without significant reconstruction costs.
The company manufactures the standardized structural elements at its factories in Pennsylvania and Georgia. The components are then stored in inventory which accelerates on-site assembly and reduce overall project timelines.
Reading offers a substantial and diversified labor pool, the company said.
