SCRANTON, LACKWANNA CO. (WOLF) — Scranton’s planned 160th birthday celebration has been pushed back because of expected poor weather.

City officials announced the event will now take place on Sunday, April 26, instead of its original date of Saturday, April 25.

The celebration is scheduled from noon to 3 p.m. at the Everhart Museum on Mulberry Street and is open to the public at no cost.

The event marks the 160th anniversary of Scranton’s incorporation as a city on April 23, 1866. Festivities are expected to include live music, food vendors, children’s activities, and exhibits highlighting the city’s history.

City leaders had recently promoted the event during the annual State of the City address.
