Marywood University blanked Immaculata University, 2-0, in an Atlantic East Conference baseball game Thursday at Pacer Park to set a school record for wins in a season.
It was the Pacers’ 23rd victory, surpassing the mark of 22 set in 2012 and matched in 2022 and 2024. It also was their school-record fifth shutout, breaking the previous mark of four in 2012 and 2015.
Scoreless into the bottom of the seventh, Marywood (23-12 overall, 8-5 league) broke through with two outs when Nick Ruiz scored on an error of a ball hit by Joel Ayers. Mike Biskup’s two-out RBI single in the bottom of the eighth provided an insurance run.
Four pitchers combined on the shutout. Noah Trager allowed four hits in six innings with one walk and three strikeouts. Brett Kugler (2-0) got the win after one scoreless inning with two hits. Aidan Dolan and Isaac Galarza each threw a perfect inning of relief with Galarza notching his second save.
The win was the first for Marywood at home over Immaculata since 2018. The Mighty Macs had won 10 straight.
