BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Saucon Valley School District’s Big Panthers and Little Panthers got out to B Social for their end of year get together.
The Big Panthers-Little Panthers is a mentorship program similar to Big Brothers Big Sisters.
The district-wide initiative pairs ‘bigs’ with ‘littles’ to help teach them responsibility and integrity.
Those involved say they’ve seen growth from everyone in the program, not just the littles.
“With programs like this, I’ve seen growth from even the older kids and the younger kids,” said Tess Wenger, president of the program. “Which is insane, coming from some bad situations that they come from. Being able to grow and just be better.”
The Big Panthers Little Panthers program participate in mentoring lunches and activities throughout the school year to help reinforce trust and communication skills.
