Erie police are searching for three suspects in a reported armed robbery and assault on the early morning of April 13 at a park on the city’s west side.
The incident was reported at about 1 a.m. April 13 at Columbus Park, at West 16th and Poplar streets. According to police, a man and a woman, ages 21 and 18, were hanging out at the park and the man was skateboarding when they said three people approached them. The three reportedly had a gun, and the man who was skateboarding told them it was not a real gun, police reported.
The three suspects then beat the man up and shot him twice with what turned out to be a BB gun, according to Erie police. The suspects then stole the woman’s purse and a cell phone.

No one was seriously hurt or hospitalized following the attack, Deputy Chief Ken Kensill said.
