Two people were transported to an area hospital following a single-vehicle rollover crash in Exeter Twp. on Monday night, according to Wyoming Area Regional Police.
Responders were dispatched to the crash in the area of 1040 Mount Zion Road, near Campground Road, at 11:19 p.m. to a report of a single-vehicle crash with entrapment, Police Chief Michael Turner said.
The driver of the car was found outside of the vehicle but a female passenger had been ejected and was pinned between the vehicle and the road, he said.
Firefighters from surrounding areas — including Harding, Mount Zion, Pittston, Pittston Twp. and West Pittston — helped to extricate the woman, he said.
She was rushed to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Plains Twp. to be treated for her injuries, Turner said. The woman was reported to be conscious and alert, but the extent of her injuries was unknown.
Turner said the driver was also transported to the hospital to be evaluated for unspecified injuries.
A utility pole was heavily damaged during the crash, and authorities remained on scene until shortly after 1 a.m.
Turner said the cause of the crash remained under investigation.
