About the Book
Between 1856 and 1864, four women working as prostitutes were murdered in San Francisco, their killer or killers never caught. History has completely forgotten them while, in Virginia City, Nevada, in 1867, the murder of Julia Bulette became a legend. At the time of her death, police in both cities believed these killings might have been connected and they worked together to catch the culprit.
When a French immigrant named John Millain was convicted in the death of Bulette, police in both cities celebrated his execution. But was Millain a serial killer? Was he even a killer at all? And why is Julia Bulette’s name the only one we now remember? The Redemption of Julia Bulette rescues Julia Bulette from the margins of Nevada’s frontier mythology.
