The University of Scranton’s popular Pet Therapy: Canines on Campus returned to the Dionne Green on Tuesday as a fun stress-reliever in time for final exam preparation. Several dozen dogs registered for the event, which has been held for 20-plus years, twice each year, and is sponsored by the University’s Center for Service and Social Justice. Studies show that canine-assisted therapy relieves stress and anxiety among college students and that it is a feasible and accessible approach to enhancing mental health.
