Michael S. Racobaldo

OBITUARY

Michael S. Racobaldo, 92, a lifelong resident of Jessup, passed away peacefully Thursday at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. He was the beloved husband of Joan Whitmore Racobaldo with whom he shared almost seventy years of marriage.

Born in Jessup, he was the son of the late Michael and Anna Fasano (Fawson) Racobaldo.

A proud entrepreneur, Mikes story started by building his business from the bottom up; first renting a gas station on Main Street in Dickson City, then receiving a small loan from his father, affording him the opportunity to buy a car to repair, fix and resell. After his father insisted that he reinvest the money to buy a second car to sell, Romar Auto Sales was born, his Eynon business for many decades.

Mike was affectionately known as ‘Grandpa’ to so many who adored him. He prided himself on putting his family first. He especially loved the time shared with his daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as they were the true light of his life.

His infectious laugh and endless love will be profoundly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him and calling him a friend. He had a true gift of making everyone laugh with his ‘Mike-isms’ and an even greater gift of making everyone feel important.

A deeply faithful and religious man, he devoted much of his time and energy to the Saint Mary of Assumption Cemetery in Montdale.

The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their kindness during Mike’s final days and Dr. Wayne Weston, for the dedication and compassion given to him throughout the last few years.

Surviving are his daughter Ann Cappellini [Phil], Jessup, his daughter Marilee Petruno [Frank], Florida, his daughter Michele Perry [Dave], Blakely, his six grandchildren Taryn Cappellini Dicken [Matthew], Ryan Adams [Emily], Michael Cappellini [Holly], Amanda Perry [Robert], Brennan Adams [Courtney], and Brianne Booth [Andrew], eleven great-grandchildren, as well as Mike’s sister Mary Sue Mackey [John], many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by sisters Nancy Catania [Nick], Stella Molinaro [Tom], Rita Greco [Jim].

Family and friends may pay their respects Friday morning from 9-10:30 am at Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, Peckville. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 am, with interment at Saint Mary of Assumption Cemetery, Montdale. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Louis M. Margotta Funeral Home, Jessup. Please visit the funeral home website to leave an online condolence.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 100 Williams St., Dunmore, PA 18510, or St. Mary of Assumption Cemetery, Montdale in loving memory of Michael Racobaldo.
