Palmer Township police investigating fake active shooter call

Palmer Township police are investigating a false report of an active shooter that was made Tuesday afternoon.

The department said officers were called about 5:15 p.m. to a business in the 4000 block of Freemansburg Avenue for a report of an active shooter. When investigators got there, they found a man who was locking up the property for the evening.

Officers checked the entire property and did not find any evidence of an active shooter or any other criminal activity, police said in a news release.

Bethlehem Township police and Northampton County Sheriffs assisted at the scene.

There is no threat to the public, and police said the investigation is ongoing.
