SCRANTON
Lace Works Tap & Grill, 524 Court St., closed after more than seven years in business, co-owners Tom and Doreen Gilbride announced in a post on the restaurant’s Facebook page.
The restaurant — which opened in August 2018 — paid homage to the city’s history through a mural of the Scranton Lace Co.’s iconic clock tower on the ceiling near the bar, photos of the factory throughout the restaurant, and lace curtains from Scranton Lace on the windows.
Tom and Doreen Gilbride — who noted they sold the business to care for family members — expressed their appreciation for patrons in the message.
“We want to thank each and every customer throughout the years at our establishment,” the Gilbrides said in the post. “We could not have made it without any of you. It was a very hard decision but it was something we felt we needed to do at this stage in our lives. The memories will go on in our hearts and minds forever with hopes that along the way we will run into each and every one of you around town. It’s not goodbye, but see you later.”
The restaurant was previously known as Kostyk’s, Jilly’s, and most recently Court Street Tavern before Lace Works Tap & Grill.
