Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday is calling on credit card companies to help combat illegal vape sales by halting transactions for these products. A bipartisan coalition of attorneys general, including Sunday, recently sent a letter to major credit card companies, urging them to stop processing payments for unlawful e-cigarette sales. The coalition stated that most e-cigarette products sold today lack FDA authorization and are therefore illegal. They also alleged that many online sellers violate federal laws requiring age verification for purchases. Sunday and the other attorneys general said enforcement efforts targeting sellers alone have not been enough to stop the illegal trade. The FDA has authorized only 41 vaping-related products to date.
