BETHLEHEM, Pa. – LANTA held a public hearing on Wednesday night in Bethlehem as it proposes another round of service cuts.

LANTA’s executive director Owen O’Neil says the potential cuts represent a 7% reduction in service, with several bus lines cutting their first or last trips of the day, along with some modified weekend hours.

The authority explained the proposed changes during Wednesday’s hearing and answered questions from riders.

“The service cuts are part of kind of a two year plan we’re rolling out to set ourselves up better financially in the long-term what we think our funding levels are going to be,” O’Neil said.

In a statement to 69 News, the coalition for appropriate transportation says LANTA is doing the best it can given its financial situation.

The group is encouraging the Pennsylvania legislature to support public transit funding in the upcoming state budget.
