A 49-yrar-old homeless man was arrested after allegedly attempting to rob an Upper Darby bank last week.

Michael McGuigan, originally of Philadelphia, was charged with robbery and unlawful taking.

According to the criminal complaint filed by Detective Mazen Malak:

Officers were called to the Bank of America in the unit block of 69th Street at 10:32 a.m. on Oct. 8 for an attempted robbery.

Police radio relayed information that a white male with blond hair, short facial hair wearing a green shirt, dark green pants and tattoos on a hand was still in the bank.

On location, police found McGuigan outside the bank. He admitted to police he had attempted to rob the bank.

Detectives interviewed a teller who told police McGuigan approached the his window and attempted to open a small customer service window and force his hand through the opening and stated, “Give me the money.”

When asked if it was a robbery he stated, “Yes it is,” the teller told police.

McGuigan was arraigned before District Judge Wilden H. Davis who set bail at 10 percent of $100,000, which the suspect was unable to post.

He was taken to Delaware County prison to await a preliminary hearing scheduled for Oct. 20 before District Judge Harry J. Karapalides.
