Two people are in custody Thursday after fleeing police and crashing in Lower Merion from an incident that began in Springfield.
Numerous officers from Lower Merion, Haverford, Springfield and Marple police descended on the intersection of City and Lancaster avenues about 12:30 p.m. after a white Jeep SUV crashed into a fence and light structure as police were following them from an incident in Springfield.
After the crash, the pair ran toward Saunders House Nursing and Rehabilitation with police giving chase.

One subject was quickly captured with the second taken into custody near the helipad at Lankenau Medical Center.
Springfield police Chief Jeffrey Shull confirmed at the scene that two suspects were in custody and there were no injuries.

The chief said an update will be released as detectives piece together the incident.
