Families across Erie are getting a chance to stock up on children’s essentials at lower prices this weekend as Sunflower Sprouts hosts its latest community consignment event, offering discounted clothing, toys, books and baby gear.
Owner Jen Stickle said the goal is to ease the financial strain that comes with raising young children, especially as families juggle fast‑changing needs. “We really want families to be able to say yes more often,” Stickle said. “When items are more affordable, it takes some of that pressure off parents.”
Shoppers are using the sale to prepare for the busy months ahead, picking up extra outfits for the car, pajamas for overnight visits and small games to keep kids occupied during travel. “Parents are thinking ahead,” Stickle said. “They want to be prepared for anything, whether it’s a quick trip or a weekend away.”
Books remain one of the most sought‑after items, particularly as families plan for summer reading. Stickle said chapter books tend to disappear early in the event. “Families are always looking for ways to keep kids engaged without spending a lot,” she said.
The sale draws a wide mix of shoppers, but Stickle said grandparents are among the most frequent visitors. Many come looking for items to keep on hand for visits. “Grandparents are some of our best customers,” she said. “They love having things ready for when the kids come to visit.”
Working parents also rely on the event as a convenient one‑stop shop. “They’re busy and want to get everything done in one place,” Stickle said. “This gives them that opportunity while still saving money.”
The Sunflower Sprouts consignment event runs through the weekend and is open to the public.
