If you were betting on a warm opening day for Waldameer as the park kicked off its 2026 season today, you may have gotten some sunshine but lost that bet on the temperatures.
Despite the chilly conditions, Waldameer’s chief operating officer says the park was ready to go, and every amusement ride scheduled for the day operated as planned.
Guests we spoke with didn’t let the cold stop them. One longtime Waldameer fan said they were excited to get back on the coasters and weren’t about to let a little wind stand in the way.
For many visitors, opening day is also about spending quality time together.
“It’s really fun to get to ride the rides with family and friends and get to laugh a lot on the rides,” said Saphira, one of the riders.
Brian, Waldameer’s chief operations officer, says while the weather wasn’t ideal, it’s still the beginning of another season.
“It’s a little chilly, but I think it’ll be a good start to the summer at Waldameer,” he said.
