Bethlehem / Nablus / Ramallah / Jaffa – Saba:
This morning, Monday, a settler attempted to run over a Palestinian woman in the village of Al-Maniya, southeast of Bethlehem, as she was crossing the village’s main street.
Security sources told the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA) that the woman escaped unharmed, while the settler fled the scene.
This incident comes amidst escalating attacks by settlers and Israeli forces in the area, which have targeted villages southeast of Bethlehem, particularly Kisan, and have included attacks on Palestinian homes and the harassment of shepherds.
In a separate incident, Israeli forces raided the town of Tuqu’, southeast of Bethlehem, and positioned themselves around the municipality building. No raids or arrests were reported.
In Nablus, settlers stole equipment belonging to electricians in Khirbet al-Tawil, east of Aqraba, southeast of Nablus, this afternoon. Local sources reported that a number of settlers attacked the village, surrounded the vehicle of the electricity company’s technicians, stole some of its equipment, and assaulted foreign activists who were present.
The sources added that a number of settlers had damaged power lines two days prior, resulting in a power outage in the village.
In Ramallah, settlers attacked farmers in the town of Turmus Ayya, east of Ramallah, and forced them to leave their land.
Local sources reported that settlers, under the protection of the Israeli army, attacked the farmers while they were plowing their land in the Turmus Ayya plain and forced them to leave the area.
According to the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, the escalation of armed settler terrorism in the West Bank has led to the displacement of at least 79 Palestinian Bedouin communities, either partially or completely. These communities, of varying sizes and characteristics, comprise 814 families and more than 4,700 people, in one of the largest waves of forced displacement in a short period. In Jaffa, a group of settlers stormed Al-Ajami Square last night in the occupied city and tore down pictures of children and women from Gaza who were killed during the Israeli war on the Strip.
According to the Palestinian news agency Safa, video footage showed two settlers, one of whom was armed, tearing down the pictures at the Haj Kahil roundabout in the city.
A confrontation ensued between them and residents of the neighborhood, who expressed their disapproval of the act and expelled them from the area.
Following this, the Islamic Authority in Jaffa called for an event at 6:00 PM on Monday to re-post the pictures at the Haj Kahil roundabout.
