Abington Heights used a balanced attack with Alaina Krempasky, Abby MacDonald, and Hilde Temblador each contributing 10 kills in a 3-1 (25-14, 25-19, 16-25, 25-13) win over Crestwood on Tuesday night at Berwick High School in the semifinals of the District 2 Class 3A girls volleyball playoffs.

“This group of girls has been playing together for years, and I can remember two years ago in the same gym, when a lot of these girls were sophomores, the results were much different,” Abington Heights coach Morgan Bailleau said. “To see how hard they have worked to play this well and move onto the final is phenomenal.”

Brielle Wentz had 22 assists and provided six aces for Abington Heights, which improved to 22-0, and will play top-seeded and defending champion Berwick in the second match of a doubleheader at Wilkes University on Thursday.

Madison Smith contributed 16 digs and four aces, Anna Beck had six digs and four blocks, and Bella Carr had four kills and four digs for Abington Heights.

“We have to keep playing our game,” Bailleau said. “There are those moments when we get into our heads a little bit. But we have a talented and well-rounded team. We have several different outlets.

“They are a good team, so we are going to have to get our blocks, because they have strong hitters. We have to play solid defense and around that and see what we can do.”

Berwick 3, Dallas 0: Makayla Brown had 21 service points with seven aces and had nine digs to lead the defending champion to a 25-15, 25-16, 25-16 win in the District 2 Class 3A semifinals.

Angie Colone added nine kills, Zoey Force had 14 digs and three aces, Maliyah Esquilin had three kills, Lea Adamo and Taylor Rita-Gomez each had five kills, and Julia Rauch had  29 assists and 15 digs for Berwick (17-1).

Class 2A

Defending champion and No. 2 seed Holy Redeemer advanced to the District 2 Class 2A championship match with a 3-0 (25-20, 26-24, 25-18) win over No. 6 Western Wayne on Tuesday at Blue Ridge High School.

Holy Redeemer (19-3) will play fourth-seeded Lake-Lehman (13-7) in the first championship match of a doubleheader at Wilkes University at 5 p.m.

Western Wayne’s Lauren Beamer closed out her career with 17 kills against the Royals. She totaled 1,059 kills in her career. In addition, the Shippensburg University recruit added seven service points.

Olivia Haines had six digs, and Abbie Washine had 21 assists for Western Wayne (11-10).

Lake-Lehman 3, Blue Ridge 1: Fourth-seeded Lake-Lehman made it an all-Wyoming Valley Conference final by upsetting top-seeded Blue Ridge, 25-18, 22-25, 25-20, 25-19.

Abigail Gelinger led Blue Ridge (18-2) with 17 kills and seven digs. Emily Gorham added seven kills, Lynndee Barbour had 11 digs and six kills, and Mckenna Zick had 29 assists.
