ALLENTOWN, PA — After a seven-year absence, World Xtreme Wrestling (WXW) made its return to Allentown, marking a historic moment for the Lehigh Valley’s professional wrestling scene.

The event, called “Homecoming,” was held at Mountainville Memorial, where WXW was originally founded by WWE Hall of Famer Afa Anoaʻi Sr.

The venue, a cornerstone for the region’s independent wrestling history, hosted an action-packed night featuring body slams, high-energy matches, and a celebration of WXW’s legacy.

Bells rang as fans cheered, and wrestlers fought it out for the championship title, bringing the excitement of professional wrestling back to the heart of Allentown.

For many in attendance, it was a moment years in the making.

Lance Anoaʻi, who debuted with WXW in 2010 and grew up in Allentown, reflected on the significance of the event. “I debuted here in 2010. My professional wrestling career growing up, I went to Allen High School, and it just feels great to be back home,” said Anoaʻi.

WXW was founded by Afa Anoaʻi Sr., whose influence in the world of professional wrestling is still felt today.

The promotion helped shape the Lehigh Valley’s wrestling scene, and following Anoaʻi Sr.’s passing in 2024, his son, Afa Anoaʻi Jr., took the reins of WXW.

“It’s honoring my father’s legacy, and I hope we’re doing him proud,” said Afa Anoaʻi Jr., reflecting on the emotional importance of the event. “I’ve just ran over 100 shows in the last two years, and man, this one is different.”

The “Homecoming” event showcased a variety of exciting matchups, including one-on-one contests, tag team battles, and moments where fans were able to interact with the wrestlers.

Looking to the future, WXW organizers announced plans to host monthly events at Mountainville Memorial.

The goal is to blend old-school wrestling storytelling with a modern edge, offering a mix of rising talent and established stars in an intimate, high-energy setting.

“The emotions are indescribable,” said wrestler Sam Adams. “When you just get back home, it’s like you never left. Everything just picks up right where it is.”

WXW’s return is not just a wrestling event; it is a celebration of family, legacy, and a community that has supported the promotion for over two decades.
