Erie residents gathered to take part in a long-running national movement, the annual March for Life returned to downtown Erie on Saturday morning.
Participants met in Perry Square before stepping off just after 11 am, marching through parts of downtown before returning to the park.

The event was organized by Erie’s People for Life and focuses on advocating against abortion and assisted suicide.
Organizers said this year’s theme is big or small, respect for all, emphasizing the value of every life.

“If you look at the facts, I think you will discover that the unborn is a human and therefore we cannot allow this abortion and we should instead be helping the mothers instead of harming the children,” said Clare Caulfield, president of Gannon’s Students for Life.
The Erie March dates back decades and was originally held in response to the Roe v. Wade decision. Organizers moved the event to May in recent years following a change to federal abortion law.
