SCRANTON, LACKWANNA CO. (WOLF) — The Linden Street Bridge in Scranton is now closed to traffic, creating a detour for motorists looking to cross the Lackawanna River into Central City or West Scranton.
PennDOT had announced the bridge — which spans the Lackawanna River and railroad tracks between 7th Avenue and Mifflin Street — would shut down starting May 6 for a long-term rehabilitation project.
The closure is expected to remain in place through the end of the year while crews complete repairs. Pedestrian access will still be allowed during construction.
Drivers are being directed to use a detour via 7th Avenue and Lackawanna Avenue.
Motorists can check traffic conditions and updates through PennDOT’s 511PA system.
