An Archbald man is accused of hitting his wife over the head several times and pulling her hair during an argument on April 30, according to a criminal complaint.
Thomas Singer, 53, of 353 N. Main St., faces charges of assault and harassment.
According to the complaint, at about 11:45 p.m. Archbald police were called to the residence for the report of a domestic assault.
Officers responded at the request of emergency medical personnel who found Jill Singer outside the home, bleeding from the top of her head.
According to the complaint, Jill Singer told medical personnel that her husband had beaten her.
When police arrived, they found Jill Singer in an ambulance, being cared for by EMS.
She told officers the two had been fighting about their marriage when Thomas Singer hit her and pulled out large amounts of her hair.
She told officers she had “head butted” her husband in an effort to protect herself and that he was also bleeding.
Officers found Thomas Singer in the front yard with his hands in his pockets and noted he smelled of alcohol.
When asked what happened, Thomas Singer mumbled and refused to speak with officers.
Officer Mark Striefsky then went back into the house to search for additional evidence and found large amounts of Jill Singer’s hair in the bedroom.
Thomas Singer later denied hitting his wife or pulling her hair.
He remains at Lackawanna County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:15 a.m. on May 11 before District Judge Paul Keeler.
