UPPER BETHEL TWP., Pa. – Monday night several first responders in Northampton County are being honored for their tireless search efforts to find a missing girl.
The teen was brought home safe thanks to the group of volunteers.
Upper Mount Bethel Township’s Board of Supervisors is recognizing this group of first responders for searching through the night early last month to find this missing teenage girl.
“It was about 9:30 at night on April 2nd we were called to assist the state police with a search for a missing juvenile,” says Thomas Austin, Battalion Chief for North Bangor Fire Company.
The search continued into the night drone teams were dispatched as well as other units to try and locate the lost girl.
“We brought in some K-9’s helped coordinate everybody, we brought in some other search and rescue teams that we do mutual assist with,” says Chief of Wolfpack Search and Recovery Susan Narkin.
Around 120 emergency personnel were a part of the search that lasted over sixteen hours.
Crews canvassed woods and fields across North Bangor on a cold April night.
Battalion Chief Thomas Austin helped lead the entire operation.
“Two main thoughts in my head, right? I wanna find this little girl and I wanna find her safe and sound and I want my teams out there to be successful and be safe as well. It was about 1:30 in the afternoon Friday that the juvenile was found was located and was doing well,” says Austin.
Tuesday’s ceremony giving thanks to these first responders for their work that night and the work they do each and every day.
“A lot goes unnoticed with us so for the time we get away from our families it really means a lot to us,” says Noah Wilder, Captain of North Bangor Fire Company.
