Owen Potter scored in the 79th minute to lift the No. 11 University of Scranton men’s soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Drew University at Madison, New Jersey, enabling the Royals to conclude Landmark Conference play unbeaten.
Goalkeeper Charlie Smith made two key saves in the first half for Scranton as the defense posted its 16th shutout, which leads NCAA Division III.
The Royals (7-0-2 league, 12-0-5 overall) are the top seed for the Landmark playoffs and will host a semifinal game Nov. 5 at 4 p.m. against either No. 4 seed Goucher or No. 5 Drew.
Women’s soccer
At Weiss Field, the University of Scranton capped an unbeaten regular season in the Landmark Conference with a 2-0 win over Drew University.
Jenna Borelli and Peyton DiLello scored for the Royals and the defense did not allow Drew a shot on goal in posting the team’s 14th shutout of the season.
Scranton (8-0-1, 13-2-3) is the No. 1 seed for the Landmark playoffs and will host a semifinal game Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. against either No. 4 Elizabethtown or No. 5 Susquehanna.
Women’s volleyball
At La Plume, Keystone College dropped its final United East Conference home match Tuesday with a 3-0 loss to Penn State-Brandywine by scores of 25-19, 25-14, 25-17.
Indya Rogers had six kills and two total blocks for the Lady Giants (2-8, 3-21). Rachel Davis and Jamilah Higgins combined for nine kills and three total blocks. Naema Alatorre handed out 12 assists and contributed six digs. Nat Reyes had eight digs.
