Alice (Krenitsky) Hughes
OBITUARY
Alice (Krenitsky) Hughes, 89, of Spring Brook Twp., passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Elan Skilled Nursing and Rehab in Scranton. She was reunited in heaven with her husband of 60 years, Robert E. Hughes, who passed away on November 9, 2020.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Phillip and Theresa (Kopestonsky) Krenitsky. Alice graduated from Old Forge High School and was a member of Spring Brook Congregational Church, where she dedicated her talents and time to serving her fellow congregants.
As an excellent baker and cook, Alice spent a lot of time in her kitchen and was well known for her apple pies. She was an avid sports fan, cheering on the Philadelphia Phillies and the Dallas Cowboys. Along with her family, she looked forward to their yearly fishing trips to Canada and trying her luck at at the slot machines in Atlantic City.
She is survived by her children: Glenn Hughes of Spring Brook Twp. & Lori Brenkosh and her husband Pete of Covington Twp.; her grandchildren: Chelsea Vinson and her husband James, Michael & Steven Brenkosh; her great-grandchildren: Adonis & Ivy Vinson; her siblings: Mildred Heller, Margie Struzzerri and Phillip Krenitsky. She was also preceded in death by her son: Alan Hughes.
Alice’s family would like to thank the staff at Elan Skilled Nursing and Rehab for the kindness and care that was afforded to her during her stay at the facility.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, May 8, at 1:00 pm at Brian Arthur Strauch Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, LLC, 3 First St. in Spring Brook Twp. Interment will follow in Spring Brook Cemetery.
Viewing will be held on Friday, from 10:00 am until the time of the service, also at the funeral home.
