After nearly 60 years of hosting a live televised auction, WQLN is switching to a fully online one.
Bidding for WQLN’s annual auction will start on May 7 at 8 p.m. and run until May 16 at 11 p.m.
The items on the auction block include event passes, home decor, food, gift baskets and much more.
All proceeds from the event will help support WQLN and the organization’s mission.
WQLN made the choice to switch to a virtual experience due to the recent cut in federal funding and the reduction in staff.
“Making this shift to online was a big decision. And we didn’t take it lightly. We weighed in a lot of factors. But we just at the end of the day, decided it was the right thing to do for our staff and for the community to continue our mission of connecting with the community and providing all the programming and entertainment that we do,” said Eric Levy, marketing coordinator for WQLN.
The organization is still offering a live televised experience with a one-hour kickoff event to lead into the bidding that viewers can tune into on May 7 at 7 p.m. at WQLN PBS.
