Summer is fast approaching, and that leaves many parents looking for childcare. While Allegheny County has recently committed funds to expanding childcare access for local families (and we’ll have a story about that next week), that process will take a bit of time to get in place.
Kidsburgh puts out our giant summer camp guide each year in February to help families find precious camp slots. We update it to add additional camps as we hear about them, and also create specific guides for artsy kids, older kids, STEAM kids, and more. Now that the month of May has begun, some camps are sold out, while others do have a few spots left.
To help parents who are still seeking options, you’ll find information below about camps that have a significant number of openings for various grade levels and ages. If you are part of a camp that still has a lot of space left, don’t hesitate to to reach out to let us know.
Sweetwater Center for the Arts
With slots left in more than half of their camps, Sewickley’s Sweetwater Center for the Arts is a great option for creative students. Kids ages 4-16 can find their muse this summer through a wide variety of mediums at Sweetwater. From ceramics and watercolor to animation and cooking, kids will find exciting ways to express their creativity. AHN Chill Project Summer Program
Registration is open for the AHN Chill Project™ Summer Program 2026. Join the Chill team for a fun, meaningful summer where students ages 5–12 build confidence, creativity and connection through weekly themed experiences. From art and STEAM to teamwork, mindfulness and outdoor fun, each week is thoughtfully designed to support emotional well-being while kids learn, play, and thrive. Spots are limited for this unforgettable summer adventure, which runs June 15 through July 23, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., but some are still available! Register here.
Kamin Science Center
Summer camps at the Kamin Science Center offer hands-on STEM adventures for campers ages 4-14. While some sections filled up quickly, there are still openings for several camps under various age brackets. The Science Center’s camps will be sure to spark curiosity and inspire young minds, from science experiments and engineering challenges to robotics, space exploration and creative maker projects. Dragon’s Den
Dragon’s Den offers a great lineup of experiences for the summer camp season, and has spots left at every age level. This transformative educational environment reinvented the former St. Mary Magdalene Church as a two-level ropes course and zipline. Kids ages 7-13 will find exciting camps that range from La Cucina del Drago (hands-on pasta making and play), Dragon’s Lab and Forge of the Fire Builders. Switch and Signal Skatepark
Skate Camp at Switch and Signal Skatepark offers fun and exercise for kids from ages 5-13, with 10 sessions from June 9 through Aug. 15. At this time, there are slots still available for all ten weeks. All skill levels are welcome to get started or develop more advanced expertise. Registration is open now.

The Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh
Summer camps at the Children’s Museum (and for bigger kids, next door on the Children’s Museum campus at Museum Lab) will offer creative fun for kids ages 4 through 13. This year, camps will run from June 15 through Aug. 14. Details and registration info are available here, with some spots left in most age ranges for various sessions.
SLB Radio Summer Camps
SLB Radio Summer Camps offer middle and high school students one-of-a-kind experiences at the Youth Media Center (co-located within the Children’s Museum on the North Side), including opportunities to learn new skills, make new friends, and be heard. Camp themes include podcasting, songwriting, and the launch of a new, audio-first literary magazine, and they still have slots available (and scholarships, too). Glade Run Lutheran Services Specialized Adventure Camp
Looking for summer camps around Pittsburgh that focus on social-emotional skills? Glade Run’s Specialized Adventures Camp is a social skills development course. It’s specifically designed for kids with moderate to high-functioning autism spectrum disorders, but any kids ages 8-18 who need help with social skill development will be considered. At this time, there are several spots left for this summer. Activities include horseback riding, animals, trail and stream exploration, gardening and more. Venture Outdoors
Spots are still available for Venture Outdoors’ summer camps, designed for kids going into grades K-12. Camps will be hosted this year at North Park and South Park between June 22 and Aug. 14. Outdoor-loving kids will enjoy active recreation like kayaking, fishing, biking, geocaching and more. Science experiments, crafts and leadership development will help kids gain self-confidence and a greater appreciation for nature. Check out the lineup and register here. Eden Christian Academy
Eden Christian Academy’s 2025–2026 summer camps offer a wide range of engaging, skill-building experiences for students of all ages. From creative programs like Art Camp and Musical Theatre to athletics including basketball, soccer, and volleyball, each camp is designed to develop skills in a fun, supportive environment.
