In an article that came out Thursday with The Washington Post, Senator John Fetterman said he would “be a terrible Republican who still votes overwhelmingly with Democrats” and that his focus remains on working together and serving the people of Pennsylvania.A recent Politico report claimed Senator Dave McCormick was among those quietly trying to flip Fetterman or encourage him to become an independent.McCormick said he’s never talked to his Pennsylvania senator counterpart, John Fetterman, about switching parties. He told NBC 10 that while he’s never spoken with Fetterman about a switch, he would welcome the change. “I think it’s most important that he decides what he wants. I welcome him, of course, I think he’s great and I trust him. I don’t have to agree with everything with people in my own party or the opposite party. So, he’s a terrific colleague but where he sits on the political spectrum and where he decides to go is completely up to him. I really haven’t tried to influence him in any way,” said McCormick. Earlier this week, while on CNN, Governor Josh Shapiro called on Fetterman to stay in the Democratic Party and focus on his elected duties.
