Pittsburgh church to hold town hall meeting on youth violence

Fights downtown and random public disturbances among youth have generated a high level of concern among residents and business owners.It has reached a point where the pastor of Legacy International Worship Center is drawing up plans to hold a town hall meeting to address the matter.”I want to provide opportunities to have this town hall meeting to provide solutions, some measurables, for our youth and our families as a whole,” Pastor Michael Anthony Day said.He says the director of the Pittsburgh Public Safety Department has already agreed to participate, and invitations are being extended to other city leaders and community members.Day says addressing the socioeconomic conditions burdening many of the youth is one of the areas that has to be addressed.”We are dealing with youth not having livable conditions at home. They may be running away from home because their living conditions are deplorable,” he said.A date and place for the town hall meeting will be announced in the coming days.”It’s not working. It’s all blame — blaming the kids, blaming the parents, blaming the city officials, blaming community leaders, we don’t have enough programs — but the truth of the matter is that does not provide solutions, and so I want to provide an opportunity to have this town hall meeting,” Day said.
