(WJET/WFXP)– A positive development for Erie residents with health insurance through Highmark seeking obstetric and gynecological care, with a new agreement being finalized between Highmark and OBGYN Associates of Erie.
According to a statement from Highmark, the two sides announced a new agreement on Thursday, with OBGYN Associates rescinding their request to end the contract.
Highmark said the new agreement will keep OBGYN Associates as an in-network for their members.
On May 1, we reported that OBGYN Associates of Erie requested to end their contract with Highmark, which would’ve removed the provider from the network of several healthcare plans starting May 15.
A Highmark spokesperson told us that OBGYN Associates cited “significant” rate increases paid to them for care to Highmark members, something the spokesperson said would raise costs for the entire community.
In addition to obstetric and gynecological care, OBGYN Associates of Erie also includes Primary Care Associates and Podiatric Surgical Associates of Erie.

We are pleased to say that we have reached a new agreement with OBGYN Associates of Erie and the practice has rescinded its request to terminate from our networks.
OBGYN Associates of Erie had initially requested to terminate from our networks effective May 15, 2026.
With this new agreement, Highmark members can continue to access care at OBGYN Associates of Erie as an in-network provider.
Highmark negotiated the new agreement on behalf of our members to keep access to care as affordable as possible.
