Two people were killed in a five-car crash near the Fort Duquesne Bridge ramp in Pittsburgh on Wednesday. Danielle Jackman, 58, a beloved cook and Steelers fan, was killed in the crash. Pittsburgh police said 52-year-old Michael Smith was the driver of the car that crashed over the ramp, landing on Reedsdale Street below and killing him. Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 has been working to contact his family in an effort to share more information about him.Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 learned Thursday that Jackman worked as a cook for several years at Duke’s Rodi Lounge in Penn Hills, where she was remembered fondly by friends and colleagues.“The world definitely is a lot less brighter without her in it,” said Robert Eaton, a regular customer at the lounge.“I miss her. I will always remember her, and she was a beautiful person,” said Debra Atkins, another regular customer.Eaton also recalled Jackman’s love for the Pittsburgh Steelers.“She was a die-hard Steeler fan. I used to love coming in here watching her go crazy during the games,” he said. “It’s definitely not going to be the same.” Jackman had joined the team at Smitty’s Place in McKeesport about five months ago. David Faynor, the bar’s manager, shared an image of Jackman and announced plans to honor her on May 15. In a statement, Faynor said, “Dani will be remembered for her kindness, her humor, her creativity in the kitchen, and the impact she made on everyone fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed by her friends, family, coworkers, and all of the customers whose lives she touched.” Jackman’s family has declined to speak publicly at this time, and efforts are ongoing to contact Smith’s family.
