The Long John Silver’s and A&W restaurant, 440 Scranton-Carbondale Highway, was demolished this week, but a new one will take its place in Dickson City, borough Manager Cesare Forconi said. He noted the company received a permit to rebuild an updated store with new equipment and new seating at the same location. Forconi added restaurant officials haven’t provided an anticipated opening date for the new store. Forconi recalled frequenting the restaurant as a teenager and looks forward to the reopening. “We’re happy they’re staying and that they’re able to modernize,” he said. The Long John Silver’s restaurant in Dickson City first opened in 1973, according to Times-Tribune archives.
