Major flooding has occurred at one of the Multi-Cultural Health Evaluation Delivery System (MHEDS). The flooding has destroyed the only phlebotomy lab, lab supplies, computers, furniture, and essential medical equipment.
The organization is working to replace the lost equipment in efforts to continue delivering care for the community. With cleanup and recovery continuing the organization is asking the community to help restore this vital resource.
“This is an unexpected setback as a nonprofit healthcare organization and for the patients who rely on us, as much of what was lost is crucial to clinical operations,” said Alivia Haibach, Chief Executive Officer of MHEDS. “Among the many items destroyed, the loss of our only phlebotomy lab will have one of the most significant impacts on patients. MHEDS provides this service at a cost to the organization because we believe patients should have convenient access to testing in one place, without the burden of traveling to other facilities.”
MHEDS works to serve patients and families who require consistent, accessible, culturally sensitive care. Donations would directly support recovery needs following the flood.
