A jury convicted Mario Valentine of the rape of a mentally disabled person and related charges.
SCRANTON, Pa. — It took less than two hours for a jury to find a Scranton man guilty of rape.
Authorities say Mario Valentine, 40, sexually assaulted an 18-year-old mentally disabled woman in January of 2024.
Following a four-day jury trial, Valentine was convicted of rape of a mentally disabled person, aggravated indecent assault of a person suffering a mental disability, and indecent assault of a person suffering a mental disability.
He faces up to 35 years in prison.
