Westmoreland County mom Krystelle Pivirotto is competing in a nationwide contest to share her story of overcoming challenges and hopes to inspire other mothers. For Pivirotto, the early stages of motherhood were difficult. “They were days where I didn’t want to get out of bed. It was that bad,” Pivirotto said. “I never thought I could be a mom, just holding myself to that standard and not feeling capable. People can see that. They can see the sickness taking over your body. They can’t see the torment that you’re in when you’re in it.”With therapeutic help and a strong support system, Pivirotto eventually found herself in a better mental state. She said that, as rough as her struggles were, she believes they were necessary for her to share her story and help other mothers. “Why I believe I’m a super mom is because I’ve fought like hell to be one,” she said. “I’m able to not just be a great mom, but a super mom.”Pivirotto discovered the contest, called “The Super Mom,” while scrolling through social media and decided to enter. She uploaded photos of her family and explained why she believes she’s a super mom. Now, she’s in the top 10 nationwide, beating out hundreds of other mothers for a chance to win a $20,000 prize. “Twenty thousand dollars, that’s so cool,” she said. “And to be in a magazine — all cool things.”But for Pivirotto, the contest isn’t about the money or recognition. “This is so much more than me just winning $20,000.
