Officials have not released the identity of the deceased or details surrounding the death.
ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. — A body was found in the Dan River near the intersection of Periwinkle Road and Bethlaham Church Road, according to Rockingham County Sheriff Sam Page.
Officials did not immediately release additional details about the identity of the person or the circumstances surrounding the death.
When asked whether the death was being investigated as a suicide, the official said they could not comment at this time.
An investigator is expected to contact WFMY News 2 with further information as it becomes available.
