A missing 5-year-old boy was found dead late Sunday afternoon in Monroe County, state police said.
Ajani Jermaine Samuels was found deceased around 4:30 p.m. in a body of water, according to Trooper Anthony Petroski, a state police spokesperson. Police did not identify the body of water where the boy was found.
Police had been searching for Samuels since he was reported missing around 9 a.m. Sunday, when he left the area of the 100 block of Rose Drive in Chestnuthill Township. The boy was non-verbal and autistic, in addition to being epileptic, state police said.
Petroski thanked emergency responders who helped search for the boy.
No further details were immediately available Sunday evening.
