A Lackawanna County judge on Monday sent a man to prison for decades for sexually abusing five children.
Tara Glan, of Scranton, was sentenced to 43½ to 97-years in prison by Judge Michael J. Barrasse.
“I know the trauma I have given these kids,” said Glan in a statement read in court by his lawyer. “I am not a monster, I just need help.”
Glan, 22, pleaded guilty in five cases over the last few months to charges he sexually abused five children over a span of several years.
Glan’s attorney declined to comment.
“This defendant repeatedly preyed upon vulnerable children and a mentally disabled victim, causing unimaginable trauma and lifelong harm,” District Attorney Brian Gallagher said in a statement. “Today’s sentence ensures the predator will spend the rest of his life behind bars and never again exploit positions to victimize the innocent.”
Glan, who was designated a sexually violent predator by the Sex Offender Assessment Board, must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
