LANGHORNE, Pa. — There were some nervous moments along the way, but the Neshaminy High softball team (16-4) was able to officially clinch at least a share of the Suburban One League’s Patriot Division championship on Tuesday with a 4-3 win over Bensalem.

Lilly Mormello drove in the winning run with a single in the fifth inning. Kendall McCafferty had a big game for the Redskins with a single, double and triple. Molly Ambrosius got the win by yielding four hits and striking out five  in four innings of work after relieving Ellie Miller. Zahmira Coppola-Miller also had an RBI for Neshaminy.

Veronice Pachucki had a single, double and two RBIs for the Owls.  Abbie Krevolin also doubled and drove in a run for a Bensalem team that really improved as the season went along.

“There is a light in our players’ eyes,” said Bensalem coach Dan Schram. “Winning is nothing more than a feeling. It can be done. We played our best ball at the end. That’s all we can ask for. Good luck to coach (Sarah) Martoccio and Neshaminy in the post season.”
