Millcreek Township creates new position to expand public outreach

Officials in Millcreek Township are looking to expand their outreach to the public by establishing a new community planner position.

The position would be working in the township’s planning and development department along side organization Presque Isle Neighborhood Network (PINN).

PINN is putting in an application for the Renaissance Block Grant through the Erie County Gaming Revenue Authority to allow for community development projects, such as repairs and maintenance to be done in the township.

PINN focuses on the area located on the base of Presque Isle between Pittsburgh to Powell avenues from the lake shore up to West 19th Street.

“What we’re trying to do is we’re trying to prevent blight from occurring in the first place. So, we have neighborhoods that are right for redevelopment, right for investment, and one of the jobs that PINN is doing is attempting to sort of raise the investment necessary to beautify these neighborhoods and prevent them falling into blight,” said Seth Trott, president of PINN.

While PINN only focuses on one area, Millcreek officials said the position is to build community planning for the entire township.
