BETHLEHEM, Pa. – A man is facing attempted homicide charges after shooting at a woman’s car during a road rage incident in Bethlehem Wednesday morning, according to city police.
Police say that at approximately 9:17 a.m., officers responded to multiple reports of shots fired in the area of Johnston Drive and Linden Street.
Initial reports said that a man had fired a gun at an occupied vehicle.
When officers arrived to the scene, all those who were involved in the incident had already left, according to a news release.
The incident began when a black sedan drove in-between two vehicles stopped at a red light on Johnston Drive, authorities said.
Police say that the two vehicles were being driven by a woman and her son, Jaime Paramo-Zamudio, 36, who were travelling behind each other.
After the black sedan drove between them, Paramo-Zamudio exited his vehicle with a gun in his hand, police said.
He discharged a single round at the vehicle, according to city police.
Police say that the black sedan, was occupied by a 42 year old woman and her juvenile son at the time of the incident.
The vehicle sustained a gunshot to the front windshield.
The woman suffered minor injuries from glass when the windshield was struck by the round, police said.
The suspect, Jaime Paramo-Zamudio, was located shortly after the incident, taken into custody without incident, and transported to Bethlehem Police Headquarters, authorities said.
Officers secured the scene at Johnston Drive and Linden Street, where a shell casing and additional evidence were recovered, according to the news release.
Video footage from a passing school bus and a local business were obtained.
Paramo-Zamudio has been charged with criminal attempt of criminal homicide, and two charges of aggravated assault, according to police.
Two day care centers – Lightbridge Academy and The Learning Experience – were on lockdown during the incident, city police said.
The lockdowns lasted under an hour while police investigated.
