Upper Darby police are asking for the public’s assistance as they search for two men in an armed robbery.
Police are seeking Anthony Battle, 19, of the 1900 block of Garrett Road and Laqwone Bennett, 19, of the 7000 block of Clover Road in an armed robbery early Saturday in the 7100 block of Clover Lane.
Police said both males are considered armed and dangerous.
Charges include robbery, aggravated assault, firearms violations and related offenses.
Police said that if you see the males, do not approach them, but call 911 immediately with any information, or call township police at 610-734-7693.
Tips can also be sent through Upper Darby police social media platforms, and tipsters can remain anonymous.
According to the criminal complaint filed by Det. Joseph Cristello Jr.:
Shortly before 1 a.m., officers were called for a report of gunpoint robbery that occurred in the block.
The victim told police he arrived home about midnight for a gathering with four females who he did not know.
He was seated at a table where he placed his AR-15 pistol.
He then went upstairs to retrieve a phone charger and when he came back a Black male was in possession of the weapon. The male pointed the firearm at the victim and demanded anything else of value the victim had.
The victim had a second firearm in his waistband, which he gave to a second male.
The two subjects then began to walk to the front door when the victim fought with the second subject.
The first male again pointed the AR-15 and ordered the victim to stop, which he did.
The two suspects then fled in a Ford Fusion with Pennsylvania plates. The victim and a friend pursued the Ford but lost sight of it around Baltimore and Wycombe avenues.
Police reviewed license plate readers that captured the 2013 Ford Fusion west on Baltimore Avenue about 12:40 a.m.
Through investigation they were able to link the vehicle to Battle.
On Saturday afternoon police found the Ford unoccupied in Yeadon. Witnesses told police it belonged to Battle.
It was towed by police and a search warrant found Battle’s driver license in the glove box. The victim was shown a photo array and he picked out Battle as the second subject involved in the robbery.
The victim told police subject one goes by the nickname Qwone, who he had seen numerous times the area.
Police spoke with others in the house and were able to identify Bennett. They were shown a photo array and picked him out.
Bennett had a criminal history of possessing a firearm on school property and is not permitted to possess firearms.
Upper Darby Police Superintendent Timothy Bernhardt said the two individuals should never be in possession of any type of firearm.
“With the summer months ahead of us we aren’t going to tolerate their nonsense,” said Upper Darby Police Superintendent Timothy Bernhardt. “My advice to them is simple: Turn yourself in now. We have already executed search warrants at different locations looking for them and will be executing more search warrants until they are in custody.”
