Erie Animal Network installs public pet microchip scanner

A local nonprofit is launching some new technology to help the community identify lost pets, and it’s free to use 24/7.

The Erie Animal Network installed a public pet microchip scanner station behind their building on West 26th Street.

If you find a lost pet, you can take the animal straight to the scanner station at any hour of the day.

All you have to do is follow the directions on the board and you can receive an owner’s contact information if the pet is indeed lost.
