Two people are facing charges after an assault on a PRT bus and later inside an ambulance in downtown Pittsburgh. Court documents said Melissa Simonovich beat James Malloy multiple times as he was getting off a bus near Smithfield Street and Fifth Avenue. Witnesses said Simonovich struck Malloy multiple times with a walking stick and then an umbrella. Police arrested Simonovich, and medics evaluated Malloy. As medics were transporting Malloy to the hospital, he allegedly became aggressive and attacked one of the medics. After being treated and cleared at the hospital, Malloy was taken to the Allegheny County Jail. Simonovich said the two were together earlier in the day and admitted to drinking together. Both Simonovich and Malloy face several charges, including aggravated assault.
