BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Bethlehem Area School District announced the appointment of a new elementary school principal Thursday.
Jennifer Cierech, who was appointed as the next principal of Calypso Elementary School, has more than 20 years of experience in the district, BASD said in a news release.
The district school board must still approve her appointment.
Currently an Assistant Principal at Broughal Middle School, she previously served in a variety of roles, including Spanish teacher at both the elementary and secondary levels and a Spanish K–5 Program Lead, BASD said.
The district said Cierech recently served as Interim Principal at Calypso Elementary School, ‘“where she helped foster a school climate focused on student success and strong relationships with students, staff, and families.”
“I am honored to serve the Calypso Elementary community in this new role,” Cierech said.
“Having grown within BASD as both a teacher and leader, I am strongly committed to supporting students, empowering staff, and building strong partnerships with families and the community to ensure every child thrives.”

“Her recent leadership at Calypso Elementary made a meaningful impact, and we are confident she will continue to build a positive, high-achieving school community as principal.”
